Professor Simon Petersen-Jones, BVSc, PhD, DipECVO, is the Myers-Dunlap Professor of Canine Health and Professor of Comparative Ophthalmology at Michigan State University (USA). He is internationally recognised as one of the leading authorities in veterinary ophthalmology and retinal genetics.
After graduating from the University of Liverpool, he pursued advanced training and research focusing on inherited retinal diseases and comparative ophthalmology. His work has played a pivotal role in understanding genetic retinal disorders in dogs and their relevance as models for human disease, contributing significantly to the development of translational therapies including gene-based treatments.
Professor Petersen-Jones has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has delivered invited lectures worldwide. His research continues to bridge veterinary and human medicine, advancing both clinical ophthalmology and vision science through collaborative and translational approaches.
