Early diagnosis of cardiac diseases begins with accurate auscultation and effective ECG interpretation. However, in daily clinical practice, these two fundamental diagnostic tools are often underutilized or clinicians may lack confidence in interpreting their findings.
This workshop will provide a step-by-step approach to auscultation techniques and electrocardiography (ECG) interpretation, which form the foundation of cardiac examination in small animals. Participants will gain practical insight into the assessment of heart sounds, differentiation of cardiac murmurs, recognition of arrhythmias, and integration of ECG findings into clinical decision-making.
Through an interactive format supported by clinical case examples, the workshop will focus on common scenarios encountered in daily practice, encouraging active participation and discussion.

Prof. Dr. İdil Baştan is a faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She is actively involved in both clinical practice and academic research in the fields of small animal cardiology and internal medicine. With extensive international experience and advanced training in cardiology, she has developed particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of cardiac diseases.
