SPEAKER BIO
Professor Simon R. Platt is an internationally recognised specialist in small animal neurology. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh (UK) in 1992 and completed a rotating internship at the University of Guelph (Canada), followed by a neurology residency at the University of Florida (USA).
He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) and the European College of Veterinary Neurology, a recognised specialist by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), and was elected as a Fellow of the RCVS in 2018.
Professor Platt served for many years as Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine until 2022.
He has authored or co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and over 70 book chapters and is the co-editor of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Neurology and the Manual of Small Animal Neurological Emergencies.
Currently, he co-leads the teleneurology team at VetOracle UK, serves as Medical Director for Hallmarq Advanced Veterinary Imaging, and is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Veterinary Practice journal. His clinical and academic interests focus on small animal neurology, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, and advanced neuroimaging. He is an internationally invited speaker and actively contributes to continuing education worldwide.
