GERT TER HAAR

SPEAKER BIO

Dr. Gert ter Haar is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and an internationally recognised specialist in veterinary ENT and soft tissue surgery. He graduated from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, in 1997 and completed his surgical residency there before achieving ECVS Diplomate status in 2002.

Following his residency, he became Head of the ENT Department at Utrecht University and later completed a PhD focusing on age-related hearing loss in dogs. He subsequently served as President of the International Veterinary Ear Nose and Throat Association (IVENTA).

Dr. ter Haar later joined the Royal Veterinary College (UK), where he worked as Associate Professor in Soft Tissue Surgery and Head of the ENT, Audiology, and Brachycephaly Clinics. He currently practices at AniCura Specialist Referral Centre in Utrecht, training ECVS residents while maintaining active clinical and research involvement.

He has authored and co-edited multiple surgical textbooks, published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles, and delivered over 1000 national and international lectures. His research interests include hearing disorders, middle ear disease in cats, and brachycephalic airway syndrome.
