SPEAKER BIO
Dr. Simon Cook is a Senior Lecturer in Emergency and Critical Care at the Royal Veterinary College (UK), based at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. He is a Diplomate of both the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC) and the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DECVECC).
He graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 with degrees in Veterinary Science and Veterinary Pathogenesis. Following graduation, he completed both internship and residency training in Emergency and Critical Care at the Royal Veterinary College, where he currently holds an academic and clinical position.
Dr. Cook’s role includes clinical training of interns, residents, and veterinary students, as well as active involvement in both clinical and basic science research. He also contributes extensively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including lecturing, examination preparation, and specialist training programs.
His clinical and research interests include conservative treatment strategies, point-of-care ultrasonography, extracorporeal therapies, and aspiration pneumonia. He is also the founder of VetLit, an educational platform established in 2021.
Dr. Cook has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the field of emergency and critical care, with a particular focus on clinical decision-making, minimally invasive management strategies, and critical patient monitoring.
