DR. JAUME FATJÓ RÍOS

Dr. Jaume Fatjó Ríos is a Diplomate of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine (ECAWBM-BM) and one of the leading experts in veterinary behavioural medicine in Europe. He graduated in Veterinary Medicine and obtained his PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain.

From 2010 to 2025, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2012, alongside his academic role, he was appointed Director of the Affinity Foundation Chair for Animals and Health, a position he continues to hold. In 2025, he advanced to the position of Distinguished Researcher in the same department.

Dr. Fatjó is also the co-founder of Ethometrix Ltd. and Director of Ethogroup, a behavioural medicine referral service based in Barcelona. Since 2023, he has been Head of Behavioural Medicine and Animal Welfare at VetPartners Iberia.

His research interests focus on understanding the relationships between people and animals, developing behavioural assessment tools for dogs and cats, and conducting comparative studies between human psychiatric disorders and behavioural problems in companion animals.
