He has conducted studies on T cell responses in patients with atopic dermatitis in Davos, Switzerland. He also participated in a joint Marie Curie project involving Sweden, Romania, and Turkey, which investigated the relationship between atopic diseases and hygiene. As part of this project, he continued his research in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In recent years, he has concentrated on the immunomodulatory effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their therapeutic potential in the treatment of atopic diseases, Crohn’s disease, and other autoimmune disorders. His group conducts research on the development of antibacterial MSCs, applications of MSCs and exosomes in veterinary medicine, the role of MSC-derived exosomes in wound healing, and stem cell–based approaches in thyroid disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and recurrent pregnancy loss. His laboratory also works on the development of biomaterial-based scaffold systems for regenerative medicine applications.

He is a member of the Stem Cell Working Group of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), and a founding member of the Turkish Society for Stem Cell and Cellular Therapies, where he served as President during the third term.
