Katie McCallum Biography

Katie graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2009 and began her working life in general practice for 5 years. She then undertook an internship at Northwest Veterinary Specialists in 2014 followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Cambridge University in 2015. Katie became a RCVS and European Specialist in Small Animal Medicine in 2019 and is an Associate Teaching Professor in Small Animal Medicine at Cambridge University. Katie has a keen interest in feline medicine and her main interests include nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology/hepatology and haematology. Katie has an active interest in teaching and supervising residents and is one of the directors of the Internship programme at Cambridge. She is also a tutor on the Feline Medicine distance education course in collaboration with the University of Sydney/International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM) and is a member of the ISFM’s expert panel. She is the Cat Advocate for the hospital’s ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic. She has lectured nationally and internationally on internal medicine, and has written 2 book chapters on acute liver disease.
