Filippo is the head of Soft Tissue and Mini-invasive Surgery at the Department of Ospedale Veterinario I Portoni Rossi-Anicura  in Bologna. Filippo graduated from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2009. In 2014 he successfully gained a PhD in Veterinary Science (Surgery) at the University of Bologna, and in 2018 he completed and achieved the Certificate in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. Filippo completed a three-year European College of Veterinary Surgeons approved residency program in small animal surgery at Centro Veterinario Luni Mare and Clinica Veterinaria Vezzoni. After the residency program, Filippo worked with his co-Supervisor ECVS Dr. Aldo Vezzoni before move to UK. He worked at Eastcott Referral Veterinary Hospital (UK) for three years and he became a Diplomate ECVS in 2020. In the same year, Filippo achieved the national qualification of Assistant Professor in Small Animal Surgery (ASN). In 2025 Filippo gained a Master in Veterinary Oncology. He is a member of ECVS Small Animal Credentials Committee Board. Filippo is the chief-author of “Manual of Small Animal Surgical Emergency” edit by EDRA publishing and he is author of several scientific papers. Filippo has specific interest in soft tissue surgery, minimally invasive surgery and neurosurgery.
