Dilek GÜVENÇ

Prof. Dr. Dilek Güvenç graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ankara University in 1996. She received her PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology in 2008 and was promoted to the rank of professor in 2023. She is currently a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ondokuz Mayıs University.
She has conducted studies involving chromatographic analyses, cell death mechanisms, and both in vivo and in vitro experimental models.

Her scientific projects have focused on evaluating the protective and therapeutic effects of naturally derived compounds—such as propolis, curcumin, eugenol, resveratrol, and carvacrol—and essential oils obtained from plants including eucalyptus, bergamot, palmarosa, clove, niaouli, and juniper in animal models of experimentally induced diseases.There are also completed and ongoing studies on the antibacterial, antiparasitic, wound-healing, psoriasis-improving, behavioral changes, nephroprotective, and neuroprotective effects of essential and fixed oils. Her special interests include integrative veterinary medicine and the application of phytotherapy and aromatherapy in animals, with a focus on environmentally conscious and nature-friendly therapeutic approaches.

Prof. Dr. Güvenç has participated in numerous national and international certification programs, including The Nose Knows – Essential Oil Basics, Essential Oils in Veterinary Practice, Natural Nutrition, Raw Feeding Basics, Introduction to Western Herbal Medicine, Scientific Phytotherapy, Scientific Aromatherapy, Scientific Phytocosmetics, Scientific Apitherapy, and The Use of Plant Extracts as Biopesticides. She is a member of the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (CIVT).

To date, she has authored 47 scientific publications, including 38 articles published in internationally indexed (SCI) journals, and has presented over 40 papers at national and international congresses and symposia. She has participated in 32 research projects, including two international collaborations, and has served as principal investigator in nine of them.
 

Dilek Güvenç is currently a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ondokuz Mayıs University.
